1983 Volkswagen Rabbit Pickup/Caddy and 1998 VW Jetta TDI
Hello CNY VW community.
I picked up this pickup last fall with the intent to make it a good cool work truck, however after a summer of work i have decided that i would rather sell off the project that finish it.
The truck is:
1983 1.6 Diesel with 86K on the odometer. The Injection pump was recently rebuilt before i purchased it. It starts right up even when it was in the 20’s here this weekend, it started on the first try.
The following has been repaired / replaced on the body:
passenger complete floor pans
Passenger rear control arm mounts
Passenger front rocker panel and inner fender well.
Passenger side of rain tray.
Added a 2″ galvanized box rail to run the length of the truck from wheel to wheel
The Drivers side has not been touched, however it looks like it only needs the floors and rockers.
I do currently have new complete floors / Rockers for the drivers side in boxes. I also have 2 replacement doors (yellow and tan) as well as replacement front fenders (currently mounted on truck.
I also have replacement rear tail light holders (brown).
The following are new parts that have been installed:
New hard Fuel lines, Fuel tank straps, fuel filters and rubber fuel lines.
CV Axles, control arm bushings, Wheel hubs and bearings. Inner and outer Tie rods and boots
Disc brakes, Calipers Hard and Soft lines.
A1 struts with A3 Passat Springs to raise the ride height up. new mounts.
The rear end suspension was completely rebuilt by installing new 5/16 plate mounts for the springs and then a whole 3″ channel frame to hold the rear spring mounts. New Leaf springs (they were for a 90’s S10 Bronco), Shackles, U bolts and all graded hardware.
New brake shoes, & cylinders. Hard as well as soft lines. Bearings seals and hardware.
It would not take much to complete the truck to have a good fun driver, however i realized that even when i get done with it I do not think i would want to keep it. All this being said i am firm on my price, If i do not get any interest or purchase on it i will just chip away at it this winter and sell or keep it next season when i finish it.
Also included in the sale is a 1998 Jetta TDI. I picked this up with the intent to put it in the truck or anything else for that matter (especially being a non immobilizer TDI). I figured i would just sell them off together. It currently runs and drives (but has a broken front sub frame, I have a replacement, but i don’t think its worth the effort to put in.)
Thank you for your interest
