More Details & Pictures

Runs great – starts right up; current inspection. Speedo works, no reason to suspect the mileage is off, with 163,415 miles. Has rust under the door sills and everywhere else you’d expect on a truck this old. It’s in better shape than me when I was 40 years old. Marked it as “good,” because it’s better than fair but not quite excellent.

I bought it just for fun a few years ago after VW bought back my TDI Golf due to their cheating fiasco. The guy I bought it from put in a 5-speed manual transmission (model 7A20034). I replaced the dash with one in much better shape and fixed a broken clutch bracket.

It has an after market radio and speakers (in pics). Brake fluid was just flushed, when I took the clutch bracket out. It comes with the hardcover Bently service manual, which has step-by-step instructions for practically anything on this car. I have a shift linkage rebuild kit but haven’t had time to install it ($26 at mk1autohaus.com), because 1st gear is tough to find.

The fuel gauge is not working. The blower fan works on speeds 2-3. Wipers work but don’t reset to the bottom. All that stuff is fixable – and finding parts hasn’t been a problem. All glass (which can be difficult to find) is intact.

This has been a fun hobby; I’ve enjoyed working on it and taking the truck on errands around town but have found I just don’t have the time for all my hobbies.

Email me any questions I’ll be happy to tell you what I know.
