Selling a 1981 VW Rabbit caddy.

I bought this truck in 2012. When I got it the engine took a long time to start due to the engine having high miles, glow plugs and relay were bad and the tank was full of sub par bathtub bio diesel.

So first off I removed the engine and transmission. I broke the engine apart and sent it to the machine shop. The engine was quite low on compression and the cylinders were badly worn from the terrible fuel this car had. My machinist had to punch the block 0.040 over to clean the bore. Any rate, I reassembled the engine with either nos parts I found on the samba or got the parts from another online purveyor. Everything and I mean everything has been touched on this engine. All of this work was completed in 2013 and I couldn’t get the truck to run and idle. Either the injection pump I spent 700 + dollars on for a rebuild was worn out or something quite simple I have overlooked. I have about 4 or 5 injection pumps I have tried on the car even a fellow diesel guy got it running for me with his pump.

This car has been sitting doing nothing and I just don’t see myself ever doing anything with it. Too many projects and things have got to go.

I spent a good amount of money on this thing and I’m hoping to get some of it back.

I have a ton of cool parts for this truck that could be part of the deal.

Euro bumper, cherry snowflake wheels, super nice tear drop wheels and electric Recaro bucket seats.
