Starts easily, runs strong, does not smoke and drives well for what it is. (A basic 1981 VW with manual, rack & pinion steering and power brakes.

A little bit of history:

I originally bought this vehicle about a year ago to tow behind a motorhome and I put a lot work and money into it to fix it up but, now; the motor home is being sold so I no longer have a need for this pickup which is an excellent asset for a full restoration or just a good runner diesel vehicle which is the ultimate in reliability with a mechanical fuel system, manual transmission and no fancy electronic controls. Is a perfect candidate for bio-diesel fuels.

This is a very rare collector’s vehicle in very good condition for its age that originally had a MSRP of only $6,580 brand new (forty years ago) therefore; online pricing guidelines (such as NADA) are irrelevant.

Especially so since those guides do not include the upgrade to go from a 1.6L naturally aspirated engine to a newer 1.9L turbo charged engine. To determine what the actual value might be then; refer to valuation systems for collector’s, vintage and antique vehicles. Such as those listed at the classic car deals web site including stock #AMS23240

As near as I can tell; the only new ‘small’ diesel pickup available is the Dodge Ram ½ ton “EcoDiesel” pickup with a MSRP of $38,585.00

Asking: $4,800.00 Cash for this Vintage, “no frills” Collector’s item sold AS-IS.
