Up for sale is my 1982 Volkswagen Rabbit Pickup Truck or mk1 caddy.

I feel it’s really clean given its 40-year-old age. Lago blue paint with navy interior. The Interior is complete and functioning as it should. The heater blows hot, and the AC blows cold. Yes, the AC has been converted and works great. The clarion pull-out tape deck has been restored (as best as I could) and works great.

So, dust off your old cassettes. Seats are rip free and have great padding/support. Doors have been adjusted to pop open/close nicely and the windows have been resealed. Swapped the old California/Nevada sun-baked dash for a perfect one from the PNW. I cleaned up a lot of the wiring while the dash was out and refreshed the steering column with new bearing & bushings. The body is mostly original. Tailgate works, just needs a little persuasion. Driver front fender has been replaced and resprayed. The rear bumper has been bumped, but I decided to leave it and not pull it out. I kind of feel it adds to its derelict vibe. I gave it a CLR bath followed by a quick polish with wool pads. Could use another polish to really deepen its shine.

The suspension is surprisingly smooth for being a light truck on coilovers. Definitely a big fan of raised strut mounts, this moves the mounting location up 2.5 inches, lowering it without bottoming out the coilovers. This gives the coilover a full suspended stroke and is A LOT more comfortable. The rear is axle over leaf flip, and I added air shocks for ride
right and payload adjustability.

I’ve been daily driving this truck for some time now and ironing out the quirks. I’m very comfortable with the way this little truck performs. Cold starts in the middle of the winter, no problem with the choke.

This truck cruises around town and the freeway with no problem, 5 speed helps. Obviously, it’s no rocket but it has no issue keeping up with modern traffic speeds. $0-50mpg no problem! Remember this truck is 40 years old now, but it’s been built to be a comfortable/confident daily driver. I’m sure I’m forgetting something.

Issues:
Slider window missing latch
One leak the oil pan gasket. Just haven’t replaced it yet due to the fresh expensive oil change I just did.
