Update: Last night (4/15/23) the driver door on my truck was backed into by another vehicle while parked on the street.
The truck is still for sale, as the door is still latching and locking same as before, but due to this event I will be lowering the asking price to $3,500.

For sale here is a 1981 Volkswagen Rabbit pickup with a 1.6na diesel engine
and 5 spd manual transmission. Gets 45-50mpg.

Emissions exempt in California and most other states in the nation.
Very economical on fuel. Built in the USA at the Westmoreland, PA factory.

The truck is in good running order. Currently registered and insured. California title in hand.
Has been stored and occasionally driven for the last five years.

I have owned it for the last 15 years during which time it has been featured in a couple short films.

Work done to this vehicle less than 50 miles ago includes:
– a new fuel pump
– new valve cover gasket
– all oil leaks fixed
– new fuel filter
– fuel tank was removed and cleaned out

Engine compression was checked when fuel pump was installed and registered in the low 400’s.
Other repairs in recent years include a new transmission and clutch, installed about 3 years ago,
and a new rear window gasket about 2 years ago.

See pics for overall cosmetic condition. This truck exhibits a mix of paint, primer and surface rust on the body. Pretty straight body for a 40+ year old truck. The exception is a dent in the tailgate.
There is some more rust at the bottom of the A pillars. See pics for details.
Some rust in the bed as well, but not as heavy as it looks.
This vehicle has a California salvage title.
