More Details & Pictures

Good day, folks. I have for sale a 1980 Rabbit Pickup with 1.6L diesel engine and 5 speed manual transmission. It even comes with the original sale booklet from 1980.

I have clocked 45 mpg on the highway with this truck, it is a fuel sipper and handles well in the snow with the FWD. This truck has about 7,000 miles on a rebuilt engine.

This is a truck that has been gone through and restored, from the front end, engine, interior and all the way to the rear suspension.

I have receipts dating back to 2008 when the engine was professionally rebuilt.

This is the second rabbit that I have picked up and put a lot of time, money, and parts into restoring. The asking price will allow me to break even and continue to find these awesome trucks and replace worn parts so they will stay on the roads for a long time.

List of parts replaced:
Front strut assembly, spindle with wheel bearings from parts place
Control Arms
CV axles
Tie rods and ball joints
Radiator, hoses and overflow tank
Rebuilt IP and injectors
Clutch cable
Shifter links and boot
Leaf springs from parts place
Added a leaf in the leaf springs, upgraded the rear shocks, poly bushings, new U bolts ($500 kit from 4 crawler)
Decided to install the lower 4 point brace, front bumper brace and upper strut tower brace. These extend the life of the thin metal frame while taking hard corners and bumps. Got a $40 dash cover to protect the old plastic from the sun.
Receipts from parts replaced by previous owners (I have had this truck for only a few months):
alternator
heater blower fan
master brake cylinder
interior carpet
taillights
new front windshield with gasket and rear window with gasket
clutch

This is a reliable and restored VW truck. As fuel prices continue to rise, this diesel sipper will help you keep money in your pockets while you drive to and from work.

While this is a good candidate for a 1.9L turbo diesel swap, I have been reluctant to do so because the previous owners put so much money into having the engine rehoned, shaved down, rebuilt that unless I found someone who wanted to immediately install this 1.6L then it would seem like a waste.

I have a large stack of receipts and would love to see this truck continue to survive on the roads. Like I said, 5,500.00 is my asking price because I will break even and continue to restore these wonderful trucks.

The only trade I will consider is for a restored 4×4 dodge ram 50, 5 speed turbo diesel.

Clean title, clean interior, clean exterior. Text or call with questions
