Description: Hi,
I have a sky blue 1980 volkswagen rabbit pick up. It is a very cool car. It has a 1.5 liter diesel engine. 55mpg. It can be converted to bio diesel. Its a front wheel drive. Very fun small pickup. I really wanted to get it going but its too much for me. Plus I am a tall guy and the cab is a little too small for me.
The Good:
It has a camper shell. Extremely rare.
It has never been in an accident and has very little rust considering.
Original everything including the key, lights and grill.
Registered Non-Operational
New fuel and oil filters.
All the electrical works.Including the fuel pump.
New Battery.
Lived in LA for most of its life. So no salt rust.
5-speed manual transmission.
The transmission works fine.
The brakes work.
Has a custom working radio.
New fuel injector.
New Relay plugs.
The engine is totally free and turns.
The Bad:
It doesn’t run. The engine has a lot of blowby and won’t fire up. I had a mechanic look at it and he said that one of the pistons has a hole in it and that the engine would need to be rebuilt. That is too much for me.
It has a new head on the block though which probably, from that extra pressure, blew a piston in the low block.
The interior in the cab is really rough. Needs a new dash.
The muffler fell off. I have it but I had to take it off.
Summary
i am looking to sell the car by the end of the week because I am leaving back to LA so please come by and make me an offer.
This would be a great project car for someone who had the time/knowledge/ money to get it going. This car is very rare.
