AI Summary

A classic truck with roughly 50k miles discrepancy due to a 1997 cluster replacement, previously owned by two careful owners. It’s been off the road and under a tarp for 15+ years, showing typical NE rust in the a-pillars, strut towers, and rockers, though the floors remain decent. Recent work includes a cleaned and resealed injection pump, new Continental timing belt, INA tensioner, and Mann fuel filter. Features include OE 3-panel slider, functional cluster, 5-speed FF code, clean NJ title, missing alloy wheels included, OE a-pillar metal, and an upper timing belt cover. No battery included; will need to be trailered. Located near Cherry Hill Mall, PA. A solid starting point for someone willing to give it attention; no trades.

Seller Write-Up

No battery will be included with sale… I borrowed it from my GTI.

The original owner was an older woman who used it to go to flea markets, which explains the condition of the interior and bed. Amazingly straight, although there’s surface rust at the bulkhead. The maintenance documentation shows the mileage is roughly 50k less than what the odometer shows, due to a cluster replacement, back in 1997.

As she got older, the decision was made to sell it. I purchased it from the second owner, who drove it for a year, then took it off the road. His son was supposed to do the rust repair and do a TDI swap. Obviously, that never occurred and his wife was getting on his case. It’s been off the road, and under a tarp for 15+ years, which didn’t help the paint.

I dismantled, cleaned and resealed the injection pump. A new Continental timing belt, INA tensioner, and Mann fuel filter was installed, then I got it running.

If you’re familiar with these old trucks, they have their standard rust issues, for the NE. Expect a-pillar rust, strut tower rust and rocker rust. The floors don’t look terrible, from what I saw.

This truck is definitely a good start for someone who has the ability to give it the attention it deserves. It’s in way better shape than my truck that I repaired back in ‘08.

Features & Notes:

  • No battery included

  • Clean NJ title

  • OE 3 panel slider

  • Cluster seems to be 100% functional

  • 5 speed FF code

  • The missing alloy wheels will be included. I needed to borrow other wheels, since the alloys wouldn’t hold air

  • I have OE a-pillar metal I can include

  • I have the upper timing belt cover, but didn’t install, to show the new parts

  • Will need to be trailered. I drove it around the block a few times, but nothing more

  • I’ve got a cap/topper/canopy that needs new bed rail wood attached. I’d sell it cheap, if wanted

Located near the Cherry Hill Mall, 15 minutes outside of Philly. Not interested in trades… I’ve got too many other projects occurring.
