I’ve had this awesome caddy for almost 10 years. I picked it up in Georgia and drove it back to Maryland with its original 1.6 NA diesel…barely made it.
Since then, I have swapped the 1.6 for a 1.9 NA diesel, which has less than 7,000 miles. It’s a 5 speed that was rebuilt during the engine swap. It gets up and goes and doesn’t stall when AC is running. Body has 230,300 miles, but the important parts have been replaced/updated.
I updated carpet, door panels, and put in nice and firm GTI seats. Behind the seats are speakers (previous owner did it, so I kept it) with new speakers in the dash. I left the rear speakers and the back panel
Recent blower motor replaced, but the resistor on the switch only allows for one speed, but I have been unable to locate a resistor.
Replaced the front struts and brakes about 4 years ago. Strut towers are clean. I put in rear struts last year.
It needs paint and has one spot of rust (see pic). A new GTI front bumper goes with it, still in the box!
There is a grease car kit installed on it, but it’s not connected to the fuel lines and has never been used on the 1.9 engine. You can keep it, remove it, use as a backup diesel tank, or whatever.
The original wheels go with it along with many other parts. Extra dash (current dash is good with only a small crack that the dash mat covers. There are so many extras that aren’t easy to find and you likely don’t need them for this truck, but they’re good to have or you can sell.
