I have for sale an “antique” 1981 1.6L Diesel VW rabbit pickup. With a 4 speed manual transmission. This car if it is running good will get 40-60MPG Diesel. It would make a great fuel saver. Very hard to find these trucks anymore and I really don’t want to part with it.
Let me be upfront, this car needs a lot of work to be in good shape.
Here is what is wrong with it. I’m listing all of this because I don’t want to waste your time or mine.
-Engine has to be rebuilt. I was having trouble starting it and did a compression test on the cylinders, they range between 90-190psi. so I think it is not getting good compression.
-Body is decent, but will need some work and a paint job.
-Sun roof is cool, but I think it may leak water.
-Someone who owned it before me built a stereo box in the bed of the truck, which is cool. But it could be removed.
-It doesn’t have a radio or stereo.
-Interior is pretty decent for age. Driver seat has a small rip.
-Has AC, but I don’t think it is working.
Tires, brakes, suspension is good. Thats a plus.
This is a good project car, price is $1900 or best offer.
