For sale is a yellow ’80 Volkswagen Truck with matching, locking canopy and a ladder rack on top. Only 168,000 miles with a ton of life left. Little bit of rust but other than that the body is in good shape. Selling because we needed another car that could transport our kid in a car seat.
This would make an excellent work truck that gets amazing gas mileage.
Unfortunately the engine has a knock (sound) to it, and while it does turn over, I’ve been recommended not to drive it until it gets repaired. The only other downside is that while parked in a sketch location, the aftermarket stereo and speakers were stolen out of it and they ripped out a bunch of the wiring.
Great project for someone who loves these cars and can be fixed up at a reasonable cost. At worst a whole new engine was gonna cost us under 1000 bucks. Even better, convert it to diesel/ biodiesel, like we were planning to do. TDI pickups are *highly* sought-after, and value would jump a lot. We were quoted an extra 500 or so for the conversion.
